On 20th. and 21st. Aug., I went on Summer vacation to Shizuoka prefecture with my mom and sister.
In the morning of 20th we were headed to Atami city which is located in the eastern end of Shizuoka and adjacent to Kanagawa prefecture.
At 10am we arrived in Atami and went straight to the beach. We got to park the car in the garage, not in the outside parking space, so that the car room didn't turn a sauna.
I needed to put many layers of sunblock on my skin as I've been trying not to get tanned and played in the waves while Haruka, my sister, was exposed directly to the sunlight.
She always wants to look tanned. She listens to me warning the overexposure of UV but can't bring herself not to do it. Young lady!
Only one thing that I didn't feel comfortable with at the beach was…… JELLY FISH.
I never get used to the feeling of getting like a little electric shock when the tentacles of jelly fish touch your skin and you get red tiny dots in a row mostly on your legs..or body part where is soaked in the water.
It looks like we shouldn't have choosen "beach days" after the mid August.
But we had a big reason to be here on that day: they had a firework event in the evening.
20日の朝に熱海に向かい10時に着いたので旅館へのチェックインまで海で遊ぶことに。車を地下駐車場に置けたのでラッキー!
ギラギラの太陽の下で弾けましたー!
海には入るけど出来るだけ焼きたくなかったのでこまめにALLIEの日焼け止めを塗って遊泳。日焼け対策は万全だったけど、クラゲ刺され対策は詰めが甘かったです。。お盆を過ぎた後はやっぱり多いのね。
何となく予想はしていたけど、どうもあの軽い電流が流れたようなピリピリッと来る感覚は慣れません。というか不快!笑
浜辺から少し離れて足もつかないところまで泳げば刺されませんでしたが、次回はもう少し早い時期に来ようと痛感しました。
でもこの日を選んだ理由はちゃんとあるんです。それは海上花火。
一昨年、ドイツから一時帰省したときに見て感動した花火です。
地元が新潟なのに、近いから今度行けばいいや、と結局一度も訪れたことが無い長岡花火。これもいつか見に行かないと。

After coming back to our room, we were just waiting for the bell for dinner time and relaxing.
From the left upper side of the photo:
Sashimi, I picked some slices of Sashimi from another large dish to my small one,
A dish of fried shrimp, called "Ebi-fry", small potion of potato salad, mini tomatoes, and cut lettuce,
Cooked taros with say sauce based soup, in the centre of photo.
(almost hidden) kidney beans dressed with sesame sauce, set next to taros,
Crab miso soup,
Steamed rice,
Veggie pickles.
遊び倒してから、午後3時頃に旅館に行きチェックインを済ませお風呂に入りました。
小さい旅館ですがお風呂は掛け流しの温泉!たまりませんね。
まだ多くの人がビーチにいる時間帯だったので我々が一番風呂。幸せすぎます。
のーんびりお風呂に入ってから部屋に戻り夕飯までダラダラくつろぐだけ。
仕事も何も考えなくていい、解放の時間。こういうのって絶対大切ですよね。
夕方6時前に部屋の電話が鳴り、ご飯ができたから降りておいでーと呼ばれました。
いただいたのはこちら。

大皿から取ったお刺身。ついさっきまで生け簀で泳いでた魚をさばいてすぐに持って来てくれたものとか。美味しい!
海老フライ、ポテトサラダ、レタス、トマト。
(隠れちゃってますが)いんげんの黒ごま和え。
中央が里芋の煮物。味が染みてて最高。
そして左下が白菜の浅漬け、おばあちゃんこだわりの千葉のお米に蟹の味噌汁。
堪能いたしました!
ホテルの、バフェや何とか料理のフルコースなんかじゃなくて、こういうのが染みるんですよね。
At 8:20pm, fireworks set off!
We got to have perfect seats on the rooftop to view fireworks. It couldn't be better, right?

Day of 21st.
We checked out the hotel and drove southward to Shirahama beach in Shimota city.
In contrast to Atami beach, this Shirahama one is a wide shallow beach and the transparency is quite high even where you can't reach the bottom.
Oh I just remember a story at Atami beach the day before. When we came to the beach life savers were repeating from a monitoring tower that a ray fish with high toxicity was found at sand bar. Then it kept me freaked out all the time lol
Fortunately nothing bad was found at this Shirahama beach, expect annoying jelly fish.
前日の海とは違い、遠浅で透明度も(深くなっても)高い海でした。
そうそう、熱海では水に入ろうってスタンバったところで放送が入り、毒性の高いエイが浅瀬で発見されたので気をつけてくださいなんて言われたんです。
ヒヤヒヤしながら泳いでましたからこの日は安心です。クラゲ以外。笑
It couldn't be better…..

Having some hours of fun, we took a shower at a beach house and drove back home.
We had perfect Summer days. Phoenix canariensis saw us off. (Can they also called palm trees?)
最高の2日間でした。
